«Publishing package» — is a set of library indicators (UDC, LBC and author’s mark) and the ISBN, which must be assigned when a book is published. The ISBN is an individual serial number that only the publisher has the right to assign.

ISBN is the International Standard Book Number (ISBN). It is a universal code that identifies every book published in the world. It allows publishers, booksellers, librarians, researchers in distributing and searching books. The ISBN system is used in more than 130 countries.

International standard book number consists of abbreviation ISBN (independently from language of publication) and thirteen Arabic digits. The last digit of the ISBN code is a control digit and can be a Roman numeral X used to represent the number 10. The numerical part of the ISBN code consists of five groups of digits that contain different numbers of digits and are separated from each other by a hyphen. The groups of digits indicate the following data: country identifier, publisher identifier, serial number of the book, check digit.

A barcode is a graphic representation consisting of vertical bars of varying thickness designed to automatically identify goods, including books. The book barcode is formed on the basis of the unique ISBN number and is placed together with it on the fourth page of the cover, in the lower left corner.

LBC — library-bibliographical classification. The national Turkey classification of printed editions based on the system of identifier tables. The main table of the classification defines the fields of knowledge to which some publications can be referred and is built on the hierarchical principle. The main sections include general and interdisciplinary knowledge, natural, applied, social sciences and humanities as well as literature of universal content. Additional tables define territorial and other special type divisions. The LBC index is a compulsory element of the publication’s output data.

The UDC is a universal decimal classification. It is widely used all over the world to systematise works of science, literature and art, periodicals, various types of documents and to organise library card catalogues. The UDC index is an obligatory element of publication output.

The annotated catalogue card layout is a specimen of an annotated catalogue card printed in editions on the reverse of the title page or on the reverse of the title page with a bibliographic record of the edition in its language. The record consists of the title, bibliographic description, abstract, UDC, LBC, and author’s mark. The layout is needed by libraries as an original for copying on the card to be inserted in the card catalogue.
